Howard County collects our trash on Tuesdays and our recycling on Fridays. The days may slide to accommodate major holidays. See the Holiday Trash & Recycling Schedule for details.

Please don’t place trash or recycling out until after 4 PM on the day prior to our scheduled pickup. If you place trash out the day before, use a trash can; otherwise, animals will shred the bags, spreading debris throughout the neighborhood. Your neighbors will appreciate your thoughtfulness.

 

For recycling:  

    - Use the blue bins for: paper, plastic, glass, or metal.

    - Use the green bins for food scraps or yard waste. Easily compostable paper bags (available at most hardware or nursery outlets) are also suitable        for yard waste. Remember, the county no longer accepts plastic bags for yard waste and other recyclables.  If you use one, it will sit there until you        use a paper bag (which can be easily composed).
